Last night my friends and I had a much needed girls night out. We had scheduled a private party with Painting with a Twist. If you have never heard of or been to a Painting with a Twist class you are in for a treat! You don’t have to be an artist or have any artistic ability to do this class. I, for one, am not artsy! lol You can also bring your own snacks and drinks, they even allow alcohol. For private parties you get to choose your painting. When you book your party they will send you a private link to the gallery to choose your painting. There are so many it made it hard to choose one! For non-private parties they offer a calendar of events with paintings already chosen for certain days. I took my youngest two kids to one of their summer kids camp classes earlier this month and they had so much fun. So our paining was called “Candy Cross.” The teacher gives you step by step instructions. Some paintings will have the image drawn on with a pencil and you paint around it. Last night we walked into blank canvases! That made me so nervous! You mean I have to paint my own cross?! Once we started painting I felt more comfortable with it. Thankfully if you mess up it’s very easy to fix. We had so much fun painting and chatting. I’ve found painting to be very therapeutic. I may not be great at it…but it is very relaxing for me. 🙂
After our class we went out for some good ol Tex-Mex! For those who don’t know what Tex-Mex is, it is Mexican food Texas style! It happens to be my favorite food but I don’t get to eat it as much these days as it’s not the healthiest type of food. Chips and hot sauce are my weakness…love love love it! I am pretty proud of myself though. A friend of mine and fellow crossfitter and I are trying to eat more Paleo these days. So we split an order of chicken fajitas sans the tortillas, rice, and beans. We ate the chicken and a lot of pico de galio. It was sooo good! Totally hit the spot and I didn’t miss any of the carbs at all! It was a great night with friends!
