I love this time of year! Actually I love the time of year September-December. The leaves will soon be turning, the air getting cooler, and high school football brings back such great memories from my childhood. There is just something about this time of year that makes me want to put on a big pot of chicken and sausage gumbo and have cookies baking in the oven for my kids’ after school snack. I love the warm and cozy feeling that comes with fall. This time of year also gets me in the mood to decorate for the holidays, starting with fall and Halloween. It’s not even September yet and I’m ready to pull all my fall stuff down from the attic. Since school began yesterday I’ve been cleaning and getting the house ready to decorate. I’ve always decorated the first of September and this year will be no different! Pics to come!
This time of year also brings out another passion of mine. Everyday people right here in our town and surrounding community go hungry. Single moms struggling to feed their kids, young families just starting out, elderly on fixed incomes, those barely making it paycheck to paycheck, the list goes on. They are your friends, neighbors, maybe even the kids you teach. You just never know if the person next to you is struggling just to eat. There is a way for you to help. My family will be collecting non-perishable food items for a local organization. If you would like to get involved and help please email me at [firstname.lastname@example.org]. Clean out your pantry, buy a few extra can goods while shopping for your family, make anonymous donations…there are so many ways to help. *Note: I also have a collection of clothes I plan to donate as well, if you have any you would like to add I will take them as well.
