Sounds like a simple plan huh? Yesterday I wrote that I would be going for a run that evening. I did go run and it felt great! But boy was it an adventure! Ok geography lesson for those who don’t have a clue about our city. We live in BC, a small town with almost 8,000 people. My daughter’s softball practice is in OF which is 5 min away. BC is an incorporated city, OF is not, but that is the name of the school district, not sure how many people live there but no where near 8,000. (Yes I am abbreviating, btw) So anyway even though these two ridiculously small towns are right next to each other, are rivals in football, and everyone knows everyone in both of them…I honestly couldn’t tell you how to get around in OF. I know the main road, where the school is, where my mom now lives, where a few of my friends live, and where “K’s” practice is. I’m embarrassed to even admit all that on here as I will surely never hear the end of it.
I have never been to a football game in OF…never. So I wasn’t exactly sure where the stadium was so I could go run on the track. I walked from “K’s” practice past the high school and found what looked like a football field. There were stands so I just assumed that was it. Once I got closer I realized it couldn’t be it because there was grass but no track. Ok so I’m not going to look like an idiot walking around this place looking for the actual stadium, so I decided to run my mom’s street. Her street makes kind of a square horseshoe shape with a curvy spot in the middle. By the way, this is huge for me. I don’t run streets because I don’t like people staring at me when they drive by and I’m scared of some big dog attacking me. I used to carry pepper spray till the clip broke on it from being on my key chain…hmm…now that I think of it maybe I should get some more. Anyway I decided to get over it and just run the street. Problem solved.
Here’s where it all goes downhill. I brought my headphones to hook up to my iphone to listen to music on my run. I never do this, it usually bugs me or gets in the way, and I usually like the quietness of my run. Oh but I thought it would be a good day to listen to some tunes. Since I never do this I didn’t have an arm band for it, so I thought I would be smart and stick in down my shirt tucked into my sports bra. I mean why not? Perfect place, it should stay, and I don’t have much to get in the way of it anyway. lol When I first started running it kept switching songs on me. Stopped running, pulled it out and got it fixed. Then the volume shot straight up blaring in my ears. Stopped running, pulled it out again and turned it down. Then the music started speeding up! I didn’t even know it could do that! Again, stopped running, pulled it out,and got it working right. Then, for the life of me can’t figure this one out, it somehow ended up on Christmas music! Once again I stopped running, pulled it out, changed it to the playlist I wanted, waited for the entire screen to turn off (which may have been the problem the whole time), then started running again. I’m sure if any of the neighbors witnessed any of this madness they probably thought I was digging around in my sports bra! lol So it’s finally going smoothly and I’m running with no problem. I made it around to the end of the street and turned around to go back the other way. Ok the way I’m running I’m directly facing my mom’s house at this point. The house right next to her was just recently built and the people had just moved in. My mom said they are super nice and the husband is a pentecostal preacher. As I got closer I saw they were outside. It looked like they were just standing there talking. No biggie. Then it happened. My phone slipped right on through my sports bra almost out of the bottom of my shirt! I caught it before it became visible mostly because I was worried the headphones would detached from it and it would hit the ground. Sure I have a case on it, but why chance it? So I’m trying to not look like a complete freak while trying to subtly pull it back up through the bottom of my sports bra. Can’t you just picture all this? lol I managed to get it halfway under my sports bra and just stopped until I past their house and had my back to them. I finally get it all the way back up and roll the bottom of my sports bra under it to hold it. Well it didn’t hold very well and it still kept trying to slip out. Seriously the neighbors are probably thinking what a looney! So embarrassing! lol
By the time I reached where I began I didn’t have time to run another round since “K’s” practice was about to end. I don’t think I wanted to endure all that again anyway! lol It ended up being half running and half walking, not sure the distance though. I plan to go to the BC track tonight with a friend and I can promise you I will NOT be needing any tunes for the run! Thank goodness it’s Friday! 😉
