Wow…I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I’ve updated the blog. A LOT has happened in the last year. Lots of changes! Just a quick update as I’m so tired! lol Not long after my last blog post things got crazy. I was doing so well on my Couch to 5k app and almost finished it. Of course there would be something to get in my way. I started having severe pain in the left side of my face. It was the worst pain I’ve ever felt other than labor. Truthfully labor would be a walk in the park compared to the pain I was experiencing. It took almost 2 months, 2 ER visits, a visit to my doctor, and finally a neurologist who scheduled a MRI before I finally had a name to the pain…trigeminal neuralgia. I had to stop running and working out because the pain was so severe. Luckily with a good pain reliever and rest it eventually stopped hurting. I only had one relapse since and that was 7 months ago. We still aren’t exactly sure what caused it but my neurologist suspects it may have been stress.
The second change that occurred is that after 10 years of being a stay at home mom I am working again! My husband and I talked about it for over a year before I felt in my heart the time was right. I’ve been at my new job since September and I absolutely love it. It was definitely an adjustment for everyone, but we found our new routine and everyone has adjusted well.
The biggest change to date is that 2 months ago my oldest son moved back from his dad’s. It’s a very long complicated story, one I don’t feel is appropriate to blog about. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to share what happened, (believe me, I could write a book!) but out of respect for my son I choose to be the better person and not speak ill of his dad on here. This has been hard on my son but he is doing great and even seems happier now.
Since I stopped running and working out last summer and going back to work, the weight has slowly crept back on. My love for Mexican food runs deep and I’ve eaten more than I care to admit lately. I’m ashamed to say I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been in my entire life. It’s been a constant on my mind lately. Yesterday we started a weight loss challenge at work and that was just the motivation I needed. Most of y’all know how competitive I am so y’all know I don’t plan on losing. 😉 I even bought a Fitbit on my lunch break! lol I will update weekly with my weight loss progress and any struggles I may have along the way. The weight loss challenge ends May 31, but I plan to keep going once it’s over. I have goals and I plan to meet them! My weight loss goal by May 31 is 30 lbs. Wish me luck!
